Our client is working on two roles within the private label home design team at a top retailer based in NYC.    Role is 3 days onsite and 2 days remote in their NYC midtown office.  One role is for a Textile/Print Designer working on seasonal soft home categories (Xmas, Halloween, Harvest, Easter). Other role is focused on graphic design for the hard lines home team - plates, mugs, etc.
  • Hourly pay rate approximately $40-50 an hour. Both roles have the potential to go temp to perm. 
Responsibilities:
  • We are seeking a motivated team player who can also work with a high degree of autonomy, working directly with our Product Design SVP in a full CAD/textile or Graphic design support role.
  • This individual must be task oriented with a strong ability to be flexible with shifting priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong command of; cleaning original studio purchased prints, putting prints into repeat, color positions reducing (producible amount of screens for home products)
  • Strong abilities in; print recoloring / pitching color standards/ color matching and color printer calibration. Accurate printed CAD art for product presentations is critical.
  • Technical understanding of mainstream print techniques, wet, digital/ sublimation, borders and engineered prints as planned into garment markers / cut layouts (working with designers and technical production team)
  • Excellent command of s/off comments all-encompassing through to approval of final s/offs for production ready, including technique, scale, placement , color matching, overall engraving for wet and digital/sublimation printing
  • If working on graphics - working on different finishes, creating original graphics as well as changing existing graphics.
Required Qualifications:
  • Mid to senior level experience in textile, print and/or graphic design within the home category - soft and hard home.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Seasonal experience a must if working on the print/textile role
  • Graphic placements/layout
  • Strong development and technical skills
  • Must be a collaborative/ team player- who can work independently for onsite and working from home hybrid structured team
  • Strong ability to coordinate with multiple teams
  • Strong communication and writing skills for working with overseas vendors and internal teams.
  • Sense of urgency
  • Ability to track s/off phases of development according to a set timeline/ calendar
  • Ability to set goals and prioritize tasks on an ongoing basis based on overall calendar and related tasks in a fast-paced environment
