A Small saucersful hedge fund client of ours seeks a talented Full Stack Developer, with a slant towards the front end, to join a growing Front Office Engineering team focused on building next-generation trading, portfolio management, and analytics applications. This is a newly created role supporting a major modernization initiative that will continue through the next year and beyond, providing the opportunity to contribute to greenfield development while helping shape the future technology platform. This position offers significant exposure to portfolio managers, traders, and business stakeholders. The ideal candidate combines strong frontend engineering expertise with a passion for UX/UI design and has experience building applications used in fast-paced financial markets environments.
- Compensation: the base salary range for this role is $140,000- $180,000 base plus bonus.
Responsibilities:
Application Design & Development
- Design and develop modern React-based web applications for front office users.
- Partner with business stakeholders to translate complex workflows into intuitive, user-friendly experiences.
- Build highly responsive, scalable, and performant applications with a strong emphasis on usability and speed to market.
- Develop reusable UI components and frontend frameworks that support long-term growth.
- Participate in architecture, technical design, and modernization initiatives.
Full Stack Development
- Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and backend services.
- Build and maintain server-side components using .NET (C#) and related technologies.
- Work with SQL Server and caching technologies to support high-performance applications.
- Contribute to cloud-based deployments and CI/CD initiatives.
- Participate in testing, monitoring, and production support activities.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate directly with portfolio managers, traders, analysts, and technology leadership.
- Gather requirements and provide technology solutions to support evolving business needs.
- Communicate effectively across both technical and non-technical teams.
Required Qualifications:
Must-Have Experience
- 3-8 years of software development experience.
- At least 3 years of hands-on React development experience.
- Experience developing front office financial applications within:
- Trading platforms
- Order Management Systems (OMS)
- Portfolio Management Systems (PMS)
- Risk Analytics platforms
- Investment Management applications
- Strong UX/UI design and development experience, including creating data-rich, workflow-driven applications.
- Experience building modern web applications using:
- React
- TypeScript
- REST APIs
- SQL databases
- Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with business stakeholders.
- Demonstrated career stability and longevity in prior roles. Frequent job changes should have clear, compelling explanations.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with .NET/C# development.
- Python development experience.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
- Familiarity with caching technologies such as Redis.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
- Exposure to Docker and containerized development environments.
- Experience building scalable, low-latency financial applications.
