Our client, a large private label resource focused on soft accessories, is seeking an experienced Sales Person who has worked with the National Mall Multi Unit Specialty Stores focused on the Junior and Tween Customer. Will be responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of licensed, branded, and private-label accessory accounts within the apparel and fashion industry. This role includes business development, client relationship management, product and line planning, creative product generation, white space identification, pricing, forecasting, merchandising, and inventory management. You will serve as a key liaison between client/customers/buyers, licensors, product development, design, and operations to ensure successful execution of programs from initial concept through delivery. The position requires a strong understanding of the accessories marketplace, retail trends, distribution strategies, product development, and customer needs. This role is considered a remote position with travel regularly to clients and trade shows for market and development.
- The salary range for this role is $125,000-150,000 plus commission.
Responsibilities:
- Lead sales efforts throughout the full account lifecycle, including prospecting, presentations, negotiations, pricing, forecasting, order management, and ongoing account development.
- Manage and grow a portfolio of wholesale, licensed, branded, and private-label accessory accounts, including multi-million-dollar annual sales programs.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers while identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, accounts, territories, and distribution channels.
- Develop sales and distribution strategies designed to maximize revenue, strengthen brand positioning, increase market penetration, and support long-term growth.
- Manage seasonal line planning and product assortments based on customer needs, sales history, market trends, competitive activity, and brand positioning.
- Partner with product development and design teams throughout the product development calendar to ensure products meet customer expectations, brand standards, target costs, and delivery requirements.
- Manage product costing, pricing, margin analysis, sales forecasting, and inventory planning to support profitability and overall business objectives.
- Analyze account performance, sales trends, inventory levels, and market opportunities to identify areas for growth and improve business performance.
- Collaborate with licensors and brand partners to develop merchandising, promotional, and marketing strategies in accordance with licensing agreements and brand guidelines.
- Oversee the development and execution of private-label and co-branded programs for national and regional customers.
- Coordinate with internal art and design teams on product concepts, technical packages, artwork revisions, catalogs, line sheets, merchandising materials, trend boards, and sales presentations.
- Review and manage product approvals, including pre-production and top-of-production approvals, for branded, licensed, and private-label programs.
- Prepare and distribute catalogs, pricing information, merchandising tools, product samples, and sales materials to internal sales teams, customer service teams, distributors, and customers.
- Conduct competitive and market research to identify emerging trends, new product categories, distribution opportunities, and potential customers.
- Work cross-functionally with sales, design, product development, production, customer service, operations, and management to ensure customer requirements and company objectives are achieved.
- Provide product knowledge, sales guidance, and training to internal sales and customer service teams as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in sales, account management, business development, or brand management, trend research, within the apparel, fashion, accessories, consumer products, or related industries.
- Proven ability to manage and grow significant customer accounts and multi-million-dollar product portfolios.
- Strong understanding of wholesale, licensed, branded, and private-label business models.
- Experience with product costing, pricing, margin analysis, forecasting, inventory management, and seasonal line planning.
- Demonstrated ability to build long-term customer relationships and develop new business opportunities.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple accounts, product categories, and development timelines simultaneously.
- Experience collaborating with design, product development, production, marketing, operations, and customer service teams.
- Knowledge of apparel/accessory industry trade shows, merchandising practices, retail trends, and distribution channels.
