Our client is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join their growing finance team. This is a great opportunity for an AP professional who is comfortable working in a high-volume environment, has strong attention to detail, and can confidently use intermediate Excel skills to analyze and manage financial data.
- Location: North Austin, TX 78751 – Fully Onsite
- Pay Rate: $28–$31/hr., depending on experience
- Employment Type: Contract
Responsibilities:
- Process a high volume of vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
- Review invoices, contracts, W-9s, and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Maintain accurate vendor records and payment information within accounting and payment systems.
- Match invoices to purchase orders and supporting documentation and research discrepancies as needed.
- Code invoices to the appropriate GL accounts and cost centers.
- Coordinate and process vendor payments through check, ACH, and wire methods.
- Communicate with vendors and internal departments to resolve invoice, payment, and account discrepancies.
- Assist with monthly AP close activities, including accruals, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Support the preparation and filing of annual 1099s and related reporting.
- Maintain organized AP documentation and assist with internal and external audit requests.
- Utilize Excel to organize, analyze, reconcile, and report financial information.
- Identify opportunities to improve AP processes, strengthen controls, and increase efficiency.
- Assist with additional accounting projects and responsibilities as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of Accounts Payable or related accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of the full AP process, including invoice processing, coding, reconciliation, and vendor payments.
- Experience working in a high-volume AP environment.
- Intermediate Excel skills, including formulas, functions, sorting/filtering, and data analysis.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies independently.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Professional communication skills and the ability to work effectively with vendors and internal teams.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
