Job Description

Our client, a pet insurance company in NYC, is looking for a Content Designer with deep expertise in content systems, content design, UX writing, and CMS architecture for an ongoing hybrid contract. This person will help build the content infrastructure that will power the next generation of AI and agentic experiences. This role sits at the intersection of content strategy, experience design, information architecture, and AI, with a focus on creating structured, reusable, governed content that can be effectively understood and leveraged by AI systems and agents. You’ll assess and organize existing content, establish scalable patterns and taxonomies, define governance and content models, and partner with design, product, engineering, and AI teams to build a CMS and content ecosystem that is flexible, consistent, and AI-ready. The ideal candidate understands not only how to create great user-facing content, but also how content needs to be structured, modeled, tagged, and governed so both people and AI can use it effectively.
  • Pay Rate: $65-70/hour
  • Duration: Ongoing contract
  • Location: Midtown Manhattan – 2-days/week onsite, 3-days/week remote
Responsibilities:
  • Assess existing content ecosystems, identify gaps and inconsistencies, and develop strategies for restructuring content into scalable, reusable systems
  • Design and establish content models, taxonomies, metadata structures, naming conventions, and reusable content patterns
  • Define content standards and governance frameworks that support consistency, quality, scalability, and long-term maintainability
  • Apply UX writing and content design principles to create clear, useful, and intuitive experiences across digital products and platforms
  • Partner with product designers, UX researchers, product managers, engineers, and AI teams to integrate content into broader product and experience systems
  • Help architect and evolve CMS structures that support modular, structured, reusable, and machine-readable content
  • Develop content infrastructure that enables AI models and agents to discover, interpret, retrieve, and use content effectively
  • Identify opportunities to make content more structured and semantically meaningful for AI-powered search, retrieval, automation, and agentic workflows
  • Establish reusable content patterns and components that can scale across products, channels, markets, and experiences
  • Help define how content should be created, maintained, versioned, governed, and retired within the CMS and broader content ecosystem
  • Collaborate with engineering and platform teams to translate content requirements into scalable CMS and technical architecture solutions
  • Evaluate how AI and agentic technologies can interact with existing content systems and identify opportunities to improve the underlying infrastructure
  • Develop documentation, standards, and guidelines that enable teams to consistently create and manage structured content
  • Support the evolution of content systems as AI capabilities, user behaviors, and product requirements change
  • Advocate for content as a foundational part of product and technical architecture rather than a downstream production activity
Required Qualifications:
  • 6+years of experience in content design, UX writing, content strategy, information architecture, or a closely related discipline
  • Deep expertise in content systems and experience designing scalable, structured content ecosystems
  • Strong understanding of CMS architecture, content modeling, structured content, taxonomies, metadata, and content governance
  • Demonstrated experience creating reusable content patterns, frameworks, and standards across complex digital experiences
  • Strong UX writing and content design skills with an understanding of how language, structure, and interaction work together
  • Hands-on experience working with AI, generative AI, AI-powered experiences, or agentic systems, with a strong understanding of how AI interacts with structured content
  • Ability to think beyond individual content experiences and understand the underlying infrastructure required to make content scalable and machine-readable
  • Experience partnering closely with product, design, engineering, and technology teams in complex organizations
  • Understanding of content APIs, structured data, headless CMS concepts, or other modern content architecture approaches
  • Strong information architecture skills, including experience organizing complex content and defining relationships between content types
  • Experience establishing content governance models and helping organizations adopt new content standards and processes
  • Ability to translate complex technical and AI concepts into practical content strategies, systems, and workflows
  • Strong analytical and systems-thinking skills, with the ability to identify patterns, dependencies, and opportunities across large content ecosystems
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive alignment across disciplines
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous, evolving environments where content, technology, and AI capabilities are continuously changing
If you meet the required qualifications and are interested in this role, please apply today.
