Our client is seeking an Associate Manager, Social Media to support strategic and creative social content development across Editorial content and TV titles. This role assists Managers and Sr. Managers with daily social content strategy for Editorial digital stories and magazine features (spanning Animals, Travel, Kids & Family, History, and Science topics), as well as campaign execution for TV titles. The Associate Manager will support best-in-class creative execution from production through launch, with an audience-first approach that ladders up to key business goals: growing magazine and digital subscriptions, driving acquisition to streaming, and enhancing brand affinity. To be successful, you will need to be a storyteller and marketer with excellent judgement to balance audience interests and business goals. You’ll have a deep passion, appreciation, and understanding of editorial and entertainment broadly, with a deep and breadth of knowledge spanning Natural History/Animal, Science, History, Travel and Adventure Culture and Kids topics.
  • The role is based in Washington, D.C. 4 days a week.
  • Contract will go until end of 2026 with opportunity to extend.
  • $41/hour
Responsibilities:

Social Strategy
  • Support Managers and Sr. Managers on daily social content and campaign strategies for Editorial stories and TV titles, tailoring approach by topic and audience segment
  • Partner closely with Editorial and TV marketing teams to help create high-impact, conversation-driving daily content and campaigns
  • Advise on social media best practices and cultural/platform trends as they apply to Editorial stories and TV titles
  • Help evolve tactics throughout each campaign and daily content cycle as new data, platforms, and cultural moments emerge
  • Support the execution of partnerships with subject matter experts, creators, and celebrities—ensuring alignment with Editorial priorities and TV campaigns
Creator Content Strategy
  • Guide creative ideation, campaign development, and execution for creator initiatives.
  • Partner with Content, Marketing, PR/Comms, Editorial, and Creative teams to develop innovative creator-first content experiences across owned and earned channels.
  • Champion experimentation with emerging content formats while maintaining brand integrity and audience relevance.
Content Production
  • Support the creative pipeline for social content across Editorial and TV priorities—assisting with ideation, creative direction, and production through final sign-off
  • Assist with hands-on production of social-first content, including supporting talent/subject-matter-expert interviews and on-set social capture
  • Partner with Editorial, Marketing, PR, agencies, platforms, and talent representatives on talent/contributor social training, on-set social capture, live event coverage, digital activations, paid media creative, and influencer activations
  • Build and maintain process workflows and content calendars to keep production and publishing on track
Data & Reporting
  • Support monitoring of performance to understand the effectiveness of strategy and creative execution
  • Help translate data into recommendations for continuous improvement across content and campaigns
  • Assist in building reporting for priority stories and campaigns in partnership with the Analytics team
Required Qualifications:
  • 3–4 years of experience in social media marketing, agency work, or a related field
  • Experience creating and/or producing social content
  • Deep and current understanding of social platforms (e.g., Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Threads, X, Reddit, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Snapchat) and a curiosity for emerging platforms
  • Experience building and maintaining process workflows and content calendars
  • Ability to support multiple high priorities at once in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong creative writing skills, with a keen eye for compelling and innovative content
  • Significant organizational skills and extreme attention to detail
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build and manage relationships across internal and external stakeholders
  • Team-first mentality, with creative, proactive, and independent thinking
