A CPG company is seeking an experienced HR professional for a two month contract supporting leave of absence and benefits administration. This position requires someone who can quickly take ownership of active leave cases, guide employees through the process, and maintain accurate leave and payroll records. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on knowledge of North American leave programs and can work independently with limited onboarding. Additional responsibilities include benefits billing, employee support, and coordination with external providers.

  • Hourly pay range: $33-$37/hour
  • Location: Remote
  • Engagement: Two-month contract

Responsibilities:

  • Manage North American leave cases from initial request through return to work, including short-term disability (STD), long-term disability (LTD), paid family leave (PFL), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) leave, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accommodation requests.

  • Maintain current leave records, tracking start dates, extensions, anticipated returns, and changes in employee status.

  • Help employees and managers understand leave eligibility, requirements, policies, and next steps with clear, empathetic communication.

  • Prepare an Excel payroll file every two weeks for employees beginning, continuing, or returning from leave. Determine applicable regular pay, paid time off, and parental leave supplemental payments.

  • Review and process benefits invoices, investigate discrepancies, and coordinate billing resolutions.

  • Answer routine employee benefits questions, address administrative issues, and escalate more complex matters when appropriate.

  • Partner with leave administrators, insurance carriers, and other external providers to keep cases and benefits processes moving.

  • Administer leave programs in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements.

  • Protect confidential employee information and maintain accurate documentation.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least three years of direct, hands-on experience administering North American leave programs, including STD, LTD, PFL, FMLA, and ADA accommodations. This experience is required.

  • Previous responsibility for benefits invoicing or billing and coordination with external vendors.

  • Ability to take ownership of ongoing work, learn internal systems quickly, and operate with minimal supervision.

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to make complex leave requirements easy to understand.

  • Excellent organization and attention to detail, with experience managing multiple leave cases simultaneously.

  • Sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive employee matters.
