Our client, a health technology company with approximately 1,200 employees across the US, is seeking an experienced Senior Benefits Consultant to lead its annual employee benefits renewal process. This urgent engagement requires a senior benefits professional who can quickly assess renewal priorities, evaluate costs, and drive the process through completion. Reporting to the CHRO and supported by a Total Rewards Analyst, the consultant will serve as the senior benefits lead for the engagement.

  • Location: Remote, anywhere in the U.S.

  • Duration: Approximately 2 months

  • Start: Immediate

  • Pay: $75/hour-$100/hour - depending on relevant experience

Responsibilities:

  • Own the annual benefits renewal process, including timelines, analysis, recommendations, and coordination of final decisions.

  • Evaluate renewal proposals, plan design options, claims experience, and cost drivers to support informed decisions.

  • Bring a strong understanding of self-funded benefits, third-party administration, and claims adjudication to an organization with internal TPA and claims-processing capabilities.

  • Partner with the organization’s external benefits advisor and relevant vendors to review renewal terms, address outstanding issues, and keep deliverables on track.

  • Present clear recommendations to the CHRO, balancing cost management, coverage, and employee needs.

  • Work closely with the Total Rewards Analyst and internal stakeholders to gather data, validate assumptions, and document renewal decisions.

  • Provide a clear handoff of finalized renewals and any remaining implementation items.

Required Qualifications:

  • Significant senior-level experience managing employee benefits, with direct ownership of annual renewals.

  • Experience supporting a similarly sized workforce of approximately 1,200 employees across multiple states.

  • Strong knowledge of self-funded health plans, TPA operations, claims costs, and benefits financial analysis.

  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate renewal pricing and plan design tradeoffs and communicate actionable recommendations to senior leadership.

  • Strong vendor management, project management, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to step into an active renewal cycle, work independently, and deliver within a short engagement.
