Our client, a wellness and fitness company in NYC, seeking a freelance CRM Copywriter to develop compelling, customer-focused content that drives engagement, retention, and conversion across multiple lifecycle marketing channels. This role will be responsible for creating and optimizing copy for email marketing, SMS, push notifications, in-app messaging, and other CRM communications. The ideal candidate combines strong creative writing skills with a data-driven mindset, using customer insights, segmentation strategies, and performance metrics to craft personalized messaging that supports business objectives and enhances the customer experience. This position works closely with CRM, marketing, creative, analytics, and product teams to deliver effective campaigns throughout the customer journey.
  • Rate: $55-60/hour
  • Location: Hybrid NYC – 3 days/week onsite
  • Start: 11/30/26
  • Duration: 3 months
Responsibilities
  • Write, edit, and proofread customer-facing copy across email, SMS, push notifications, in-app messaging, and other CRM channels.
  • Develop messaging strategies that align with customer lifecycle stages, including acquisition, onboarding, engagement, retention, and reactivation.
  • Create personalized and segmented content tailored to specific audiences, customer behaviors, and business goals.
  • Partner with CRM and marketing teams to support campaign planning, execution, and optimization.
  • Collaborate with designers, marketers, and cross-functional stakeholders to produce cohesive and impactful customer experiences.
  • Conduct A/B testing and iterate on messaging based on campaign performance and customer engagement metrics.
  • Ensure all copy reflects brand voice, tone, and messaging guidelines while maintaining consistency across channels.
  • Translate complex products, services, or promotional offers into clear, compelling customer communications.
  • Review campaign performance data and apply insights to improve future messaging strategies.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Stay current on CRM marketing trends, customer engagement best practices, and emerging communication channels.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional copywriting experience, with significant experience supporting CRM or lifecycle marketing initiatives.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing email, CRM, retention, and customer engagement campaigns.
  • Experience writing for email marketing platforms and CRM ecosystems such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Braze, Iterable, Adobe Campaign, HubSpot, or similar tools.
  • Understanding of customer segmentation, personalization strategies, and lifecycle marketing principles.
  • Strong attention to detail with exceptional editing, proofreading, and quality control skills.
  • Ability to interpret campaign performance data and apply insights to improve messaging effectiveness.
  • Experience collaborating with creative, marketing, analytics, and product teams.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly to changing business needs.
  • Knowledge of CRM best practices, email deliverability, compliance requirements, and customer engagement trends.
  • Experience working in a consumer, subscription, retail, e-commerce, technology, or digital marketing environment is preferred.
