We are seeking a Freelance Technical Designer – Accessories & Hardware to support the technical development of a diverse range of soft and hard accessories, including handbags, jewelry, footwear, hair accessories, socks, scarves, and hats. This role is ideal for someone with a background in Accessories Design, Industrial Design, or Technical Design who enjoys bringing creative concepts to life through strong technical execution. You will partner closely with Design, Merchandising, Product Development, Sourcing, Quality, and global vendor teams to translate design concepts into accurate, production-ready tech packs, specifications, construction details, hardware callouts, and 3D CAD models when needed.

• Schedule: Hybrid, 3 days onsite per week
• Experience Level: 0–2 years
• Hourly Pay Rate: $31.00

Responsibilities:

• Support the technical development of both soft and hard accessories, with particular emphasis on bags, jewelry, hardware, and trims.
• Create or update 3D CAD models and technical renderings for hard accessories, jewelry, bag hardware, and trims when needed.
• Use tools such as Rhino, Matrix, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop to communicate product specifications and technical details.
• Evaluate product functionality, construction, durability, ergonomics, and aesthetic intent.
• Partner with Design, Merchandising, Sourcing, QA, Raw Materials, Product Development, and overseas vendors/factories throughout the development process.
• Review prototypes and samples against design intent and technical specifications.
• Participate in sample review and fitting sessions, providing clear and actionable technical comments.
• Communicate revisions through digital images, CAD updates, detailed callouts, and technical documentation.
• Troubleshoot construction and manufacturing challenges with internal teams and vendor partners.

Required Qualifications:

• Degree in Industrial Design, Accessories Design, Fashion/Apparel Design, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• 0–2 years of relevant industry experience in accessories technical design, product development, or a related area.
• Understanding of accessories construction, including bags, jewelry, footwear, hair accessories, hats, scarves, and/or socks.
• Knowledge of both soft-goods and hard-goods development, including materials, hardware, metals/plating, plastics, textiles, molds, patterns, and manufacturing processes.
• Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Rhino, Matrix, or similar 3D CAD experience is highly preferred.
• PLM/PDM experience is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Creative, solutions-oriented approach to technical challenges.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with global vendors and cross-functional partners.
