We are partnered with a growing aerospace start-up looking for a Cost Accounting Manager. The role is on-site in Long Beach, with flexibility for someone to sit in El Segundo as well. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate. 

• Salary: 140-180k 

Responsibilities:

• Own cost accounting and inventory accounting activities for a growing manufacturing operation

• Manage month-end close activities related to manufacturing costs, inventory, accruals, and reconciliations

• Develop and maintain labor rates, overhead rates, cost allocations, and manufacturing cost pools

• Analyze material, labor, overhead, purchase price, and production variances

• Maintain accurate product costs across bills of material, routings, work orders, purchasing, and production

• Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Finance to understand cost drivers and improve manufacturing performance

• Oversee inventory accounting, cycle counts, physical inventories, reserves, and related controls

• Improve cost accounting processes, reporting, controls, and ERP functionality as the business scales

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• 5+ years of cost accounting, inventory accounting, or manufacturing accounting experience

• Strong knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting and U.S. GAAP

• Experience developing labor and overhead rates, allocations, and absorption methodologies

• Strong inventory accounting experience including cycle counts, physical inventories, and reserves

• Experience analyzing manufacturing variances and product costs

• Strong understanding of BOMs, routings, work orders, and manufacturing data

• ERP systems experience and advanced Excel skills

• Aerospace, defense, automotive, industrial, or other complex manufacturing experience preferred

• Experience building or improving cost accounting processes in a growing organization highly valued

• CPA or CMA is a plus
