Job Description

Our client, a leading energy organization, is seeking a Web Designer to join its Digital Marketing team. This individual will design, build, author, and optimize responsive, accessible, and conversion-focused website experiences across multiple consumer brands. The role is heavily focused on hands-on page production within Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) as a Cloud Service, including Edge Delivery Services, while also supporting existing AEM on-premises websites as the organization transitions to cloud-based platforms. The ideal candidate brings a combination of UX/UI and visual design skills, enterprise CMS experience, and the ability to independently create and publish polished web experiences.

  • Rate range: $50-55/hr

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, author, and maintain responsive landing pages, product and plan pages, comparison experiences, and educational content within AEM Cloud.

  • Create wireframes, page layouts, prototypes, and production-ready designs that establish clear content hierarchy, intuitive customer journeys, and effective calls to action across desktop and mobile.

  • Build pages efficiently using existing AEM Cloud and Edge Delivery Services templates, blocks, components, sections, and approved styles.

  • Determine which design updates can be configured directly through CMS authoring tools and when additional developer support is required.

  • Partner with Content, Copywriting, SEO/AEO, and Digital Marketing teams to translate creative briefs and approved copy into clear, discoverable, and user-friendly web experiences.

  • Apply UX and conversion best practices across navigation, forms, page flows, and calls to action, collaborating with analytics and optimization teams to support testing and continuous improvement.

  • Create, edit, preview, validate, and publish pages through applicable AEM Cloud workflows, including Edge Delivery Services authoring, while supporting existing AEM on-premises sites during migration.

  • Ensure website experiences meet accessibility standards, including WCAG principles, keyboard navigation, color contrast, focus states, semantic structure, and appropriate alternative text.

  • Optimize page layouts and digital assets for site speed, mobile usability, and Core Web Vitals, partnering with designers and developers on imagery, animation, and technical performance.

  • Maintain consistent design standards across multiple consumer brands while adapting layouts and experiences to different audiences, markets, and product needs.

  • Document reusable page patterns and provide clear requirements for new or updated blocks, components, and styles, partnering with developers on implementation and quality assurance.

  • Leverage customer research, behavioral analytics, testing results, and website performance data to identify opportunities and recommend improvements.

  • Incorporate AI-assisted design, authoring, and quality assurance tools to improve efficiency and streamline repetitive workflows, ensuring all outputs meet brand, accuracy, accessibility, and performance standards.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on design reviews, content updates, quality assurance, and launches while managing multiple projects and competing deadlines.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Web Design, UX/UI Design, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

  • 3–5 years of experience in web design, UX/UI design, or a related digital design discipline.

  • A strong portfolio showcasing responsive websites, landing pages, and customer-focused digital experiences.

  • Proficiency in Figma or comparable interface design and prototyping tools, with a strong understanding of layout, typography, information hierarchy, and interaction design.

  • Hands-on experience authoring, assembling, previewing, and publishing production website pages within an enterprise CMS using reusable templates, components, or blocks.

  • Ability to demonstrate completed website builds and explain the process of taking pages from initial design through CMS production and publishing.

  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, semantic page structure, responsive design, accessibility fundamentals, SEO-friendly markup, and website performance.

  • Ability to troubleshoot common CMS authoring, layout, and responsive design issues.

  • Experience working within modern AEM Cloud or comparable component- and block-based authoring environments.

  • Ability to interpret creative and business requirements and deliver accurate, production-ready web pages with minimal developer dependency.

  • Strong attention to detail, communication, organization, and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and shifting priorities.

  • Ability to work on-site in Long Island City, NY.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) as a Cloud Service, particularly Edge Delivery Services, including block-based page composition, reusable styles, preview, and publishing workflows.

  • Familiarity with document-based authoring or Universal Editor within AEM Cloud environments.

  • Experience with AEM Sites on-premises, including editable templates, components, content fragments, style systems, and author/publish workflows.

  • Experience supporting website migrations from on-premises AEM environments to cloud-based platforms.

  • Understanding of SEO and AEO best practices, including semantic headings, metadata, internal linking, structured content, and AI search discoverability.

  • Experience working with enterprise design systems, multi-brand websites, conversion-focused customer journeys, A/B testing, or UX research.

  • Familiarity with Core Web Vitals, image optimization, WCAG standards, mobile-first quality assurance, and cross-browser testing.

  • Experience collaborating with front-end developers on CSS styling, block and component requirements, design-to-build handoffs, and technical feasibility.

  • Basic familiarity with Edge Delivery Services content and code separation.

  • Experience within regulated, consumer-facing, or high-volume customer acquisition environments.

  • Familiarity with responsible generative AI workflows and tools.
