Award-winning experiential marketing agency is looking for a Production Director to lead production operations for one of their largest client accounts. This is an operational leadership role. You’ll build scalable systems, oversee procurement and financial performance, and develop a team of producers, while staying hands-on enough in event production to guide decisions and step in on critical programs.
- $130-140k range DOE
- Hybrid in Culver City
- Must have extensive experience working FTE in an agency environment with focus in experiential + brand activations
Location and schedule
- LA-based, with a hybrid schedule and office hours in Culver City
- Travel and non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, as events require
- Applications must include examples of experiential projects or programs you personally produced, with a brief description of the role and responsibilities you owned
Responsibilities:
Lead production operations
- Maintain and improve production processes, workflows, tools, and best practices
- Drive improvements that increase efficiency, accountability, and profitability
- Work with leadership to resolve operational challenges before they affect execution
- Serve as the senior escalation point for production risks, decisions, and resource planning
Own procurement and financial health
- Ensure compliance with purchasing, contracting, budgeting, and financial approval processes
- Partner with Finance and Operations to maintain financial visibility
- Monitor project health, profitability, staffing utilization, and production spend
- Support budget reviews and forecasting for key programs
- Hold teams accountable for active budget management, timely reconciliation, and project closeout
Develop your team
- Directly manage and develop production team members, with clear career paths, succession plans, and leadership development
- Set clear expectations, accountability measures, and performance goals
- Coach and mentor regularly, and identify future leaders
- Build a collaborative, solutions-oriented culture focused on continuous improvement
Partner across the agency
- Work closely with Account, Creative, Influencer, Talent, Operations, and Finance teams
- Join client-facing conversations as a senior production leader when appropriate
- Align stakeholders around production priorities, risks, and resource needs
- Support strategic planning and operational decision-making
Oversee programs
- Provide executive-level oversight across multiple concurrent programs and activations
- Keep timelines, budgets, quality standards, and client expectations on track
- Help teams solve complex challenges and remove barriers
- Step into hands-on leadership on high-priority initiatives when needed
- Maintain a holistic view of the portfolio, and raise risks, bandwidth concerns, and budget issues early with clear recommendations
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of progressive experiential/event production experience, including personally producing complex, large-scale, high-budget programs from pre-production through onsite execution and reconciliation
- Deep knowledge of experiential production: fabrication, technical production, AV, scenic, show services, venue operations, permitting, logistics, labor, transportation, staffing, safety, and onsite execution (livestream knowledge is a plus)
- Strong vendor relationships and the ability to evaluate capabilities, scopes, bids, pricing, and timelines
- Proven ability to build and pressure-test production plans, scopes, schedules, budgets, and contingency plans yourself, not just oversee the teams who do
- Experience as an Executive Producer or equivalent senior production lead, accountable for overall approach and delivery
- Experience overseeing multiple concurrent programs while staying close enough to the details to spot risk
- A record of managing and developing experienced production talent, including mentoring senior-level producers
- Strong financial acumen: budget development, forecasting, procurement, reconciliation, scope management, and profitability
- Client-facing communication skills and executive presence, with the ability to present recommendations, risks, tradeoffs, and solutions with confidence
- The judgment to know when to empower the team and when to dive in
- Strong cross-functional leadership across Account, Creative, Finance, Operations, and other disciplines
How we’ll measure success
- Production operations run efficiently and consistently
- Procurement and financial processes are accurate and compliant
- Team members show measurable growth
- Process improvements increase efficiency and scalability
- Strong partnerships across departments and with client stakeholders
- Department goals are met while maintaining profitability, quality, and team engagement
What we offer
- Competitive salary and benefits
- Paid holidays, PTO, and recovery days
- Opportunities for career growth and creative collaboration
- A culture that values inclusivity, hustle, fun, and innovation
