Job Description

We’re a fully integrated, award-winning marketing, event, and promotion agency with expertise in event executions, exhibit environments, mobile marketing tours, influencer crossovers, and filmed and streamed productions. We’re looking for a VP of Production to lead our Production department and set the standard for how we plan, manage, and deliver complex experiential programs. This role owns the health and performance of the Production function, including production excellence, team development, resource planning, financial stewardship, vendor strategy, and quality control across our portfolio. You’ll bring deep, hands-on production expertise and strong people leadership: you’ll guide and challenge experienced production leaders, and build a scalable department rather than becoming the primary producer on individual programs.

  • Permanent / Full Time
  • $190-$215k+ range
  • Hybrid schedule - Culver City
  • Travel and non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, as major events require (recovery days provided)
  • Applications must include examples of experiential projects or programs you personally produced, with a brief description of your role, responsibilities, budget scale, and production scope

What you’ll do

Lead the Production department

  • Own the strategy, structure, performance, and evolution of the department
  • Set agency-wide production standards, workflows, tools, and best practices
  • Create clarity around roles, decision-making, and accountability
  • Establish consistent standards for how programs are scoped, budgeted, staffed, produced, documented, and closed out
  • Maintain visibility across the production portfolio and identify operational, financial, staffing, and executional risks early
  • Partner with the VP of Growth and executive leadership to set priorities that support broader business objectives
  • Build an organization that scales without depending on individual team members or institutional knowledge

Drive production excellence and quality control

  • Set the standard for excellence across experiential programs, activations, tours, conferences, livestreams, and other complex executions
  • Provide senior oversight on the largest, most complex, or highest-risk programs
  • Pressure-test strategies, schedules, budgets, scopes, vendor plans, technical approaches, and contingency plans
  • Ensure teams evaluate feasibility, safety, complexity, timing, and cost before committing to an approach
  • Serve as the senior escalation point for major risks, vendor challenges, and critical decisions
  • Empower Production Directors and producers to own day-to-day execution, stepping in deeper only when circumstances require
  • Document lessons learned and apply best practices across teams and clients

Lead and develop your team

  • Lead, manage, and develop Production Directors and senior production talent
  • Coach leaders on team management, production judgment, financial management, client partnership, and decision-making
  • Build clear career paths, identify and retain high-potential talent, and create succession plans
  • Ensure managers coach their teams continuously, not just at annual reviews
  • Partner with HR and leadership on hiring, performance management, promotions, compensation, and organizational planning
  • Foster a culture that balances support with ownership, accountability, and high performance

Plan resources and capacity

  • Own production resource planning in partnership with Production Directors, Operations, and Account leadership
  • Track current and upcoming demand, utilization, travel, and capacity constraints
  • Identify staffing gaps early, and decide when to use full-time staff, freelancers, contractors, or specialized partners
  • Balance efficient utilization with sustainable workloads, and partner on long-term workforce planning

Provide financial and commercial leadership

  • Own financial discipline across the department with Finance, Operations, and Account leadership
  • Set expectations for budgeting, estimating, forecasting, procurement, reconciliation, and project closeout
  • Monitor project health, margins, utilization, vendor commitments, and financial risks across the portfolio
  • Hold Production Directors accountable for the financial health of their programs and teams
  • Ensure risks, scope changes, overages, and margin concerns surface early with clear recommendations
  • Find opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability without compromising quality

Shape vendor and procurement strategy

  • Oversee vendor strategy across fabrication, scenic, technical production, AV, labor, logistics, staffing, transportation, show services, and venues
  • Maintain strong partner relationships and evaluate vendor capability, performance, pricing, and capacity
  • Ensure teams bid, negotiate, contract, and manage vendors effectively
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate spend and improve purchasing leverage, while keeping a diverse, competitive vendor network
  • Partner with Finance, Operations, and Legal on procurement, contracting, insurance, and approval compliance

Lead across the agency and with clients

  • Serve as the senior Production voice within agency leadership
  • Partner closely with Account, Creative, Influencer/Talent, Innovation, Finance, Operations, and executive leadership
  • Get Production involved early in creative development, scoping, and planning so feasibility and risk are evaluated up front
  • Join senior client conversations when expertise, escalation, or executive presence is needed
  • Communicate challenges, risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations clearly to executives and clients
  • Support new business and major RFPs when senior production expertise is required

What you bring

  • 12–15+ years of progressive experiential/event production experience, including senior roles such as Executive Producer, Production Director, Head of Production, or VP of Production
  • Extensive hands-on experience personally producing complex, large-scale, multimillion-dollar experiential programs from scoping and pre-production through onsite execution, reconciliation, and closeout
  • Expert knowledge of experiential production: fabrication, scenic, technical production, AV, show services, venue operations, permitting, labor, logistics, transportation, staffing, safety, and onsite execution
  • Proven ability to independently evaluate and pressure-test plans, budgets, schedules, technical approaches, vendor scopes, and contingencies
  • Deep vendor knowledge and industry relationships, with experience sourcing partners, negotiating pricing and scope, and managing complex vendor ecosystems
  • A record of leading senior production talent, including Production Directors, Executive Producers, and Senior Producers
  • Success building, restructuring, or scaling production teams, including organizational design, staffing strategy, performance management, and succession planning
  • Experience overseeing multiple client portfolios and concurrent programs while maintaining visibility into quality, staffing, financial performance, and risk
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen managing multimillion-dollar portfolios, forecasting, procurement, utilization, scope, and profitability
  • Executive presence and the ability to advise senior client and agency stakeholders on complex production decisions
  • The judgment to balance strategic leadership with deep production involvement when needed
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and the credibility to earn the trust of experienced producers through both expertise and leadership

How we’ll measure success

  • Production operates as a cohesive, scalable department with clear standards, ownership, and accountability
  • Production Directors own their client portfolios and teams without routine executive intervention
  • Risks, resource constraints, and financial concerns are identified and addressed early
  • Teams consistently deliver high-quality work within budget, on schedule, and to client expectations
  • Margins, forecasting, reconciliation, and closeout reflect consistent financial discipline
  • Resources are planned proactively, reducing reactive staffing and unsustainable workloads
  • Production leaders show measurable growth, with career paths and succession plans in place
  • Vendor relationships and procurement practices support competitive pricing, strong execution, and healthy project economics
  • Production partners effectively across the agency
  • Senior production talent sees department leadership as both a credible production resource and an effective people leader
  • The department scales with agency growth while maintaining quality, profitability, and team engagement

What we offer

  • Competitive salary and benefits
  • Paid holidays, PTO, and recovery days
  • Opportunities for career growth and creative collaboration
  • A culture that values inclusivity, hustle, fun, and innovation
